Intel Acquires Gesture Recognition Middleware Startup Omek Interactive fro $30-50M

SJ Mercury News, CNET, Globes: Intel Israel spokesman confirmed that Intel has acquired gesture recognition middleware startup Omek Interactive, declining to specify the price Intel paid; Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that the price was close to $50M, while other sources report the price of $30-40M. So far the startup has raised $14M, with Intel Capital being one of the leading investors.

"The acquisition of Omek Interactive will help increase Intel's capabilities in the delivery of more immersive perceptual computing experiences," Intel spokesperson told CNET.

  2. Seems like Intel finally woke up from PC's sleep mode. Not sure abt pixel designers but they are hiring a lot of image processing guys.
